Lucknow: A new Pulmonary Rehabilitation Centre (PRC) has been established at KGMU to assist patients suffering from chronic breathing problems. The centre, inaugurated by vice-chancellor Prof Soniya Nityanand, will provide full support to patients suffering from asthma, COPD, and other respiratory ailments through physiotherapy, dietary counseling, and psychological support.
Prof Nityanand said that the PRC goes beyond patient care and will also offer training programmes for doctors from various medical colleges in the field of pulmonary rehabilitation. Prof Surya Kant, HOD respiratory medicine said that even after extensive treatment, some patients continue to experience breathlessness. "Pulmonary rehabilitation will be effective in addressing these challenges," he added.
