We connected with Kumar Saurav, a yoga instructor, to bring you seven yoga poses that will help you do away with the stress of fasting for your first Karwa Chauth.

1. Pranayama Improves Sleep Schedule
Pranayama is an ancient technique of deep breathing that helps with stress. It is one of the few exercises you can do while sitting in bed. You need to control your breath while inhaling and exhaling alternatively from your nostrils.
According to a few studies, it has been found that pranayama helps to reduce stress, increase mindfulness, improve the functionality of the lungs, and do away with sleep-related issues.
2. Viparita Karani (Legs Against The Wall) Reduces Fat
When you practise Viparity Karani, you stretch your legs against the wall which helps with the improved movements of the spine, hips, and glutes. It also releases the tension in the lower back.
If you practise it for 15-20 minutes every day, not only will it help you manage stress, but also reduce belly fat, if that has also been your constant worry.
3. Balasana (Child’s Pose) Has A Calming Effect
When you try the child’s pose, it might seem a little difficult, but it is believed to leave your body with a calming effect. It releases tension from the muscles and improves the respiratory system and the functioning of the lungs.
It can also help people manage their blood sugar levels and deactivate the stress response. It is one of the few asanas that stretches your entire body and works up your core muscles.
4. Uttanasana (Standing Forward Fold) Lengthens Spine
Uttanasana is a pose you must try to lengthen your spine or if you are struggling with digestive issues. It stretches muscles, releases tension, and calms your mind. If you are stressed about fasting on Karwa Chauth, you must practise this asana every day.
It might not be possible to ace it at once. However, regular efforts will help you touch your feet soon. It is also associated with tightening the hamstrings.

5. Sukhasana Relaxes Mind
Another easy pose you can try without getting up from your bed is the sukhasana pose. You have to sit with crossed legs, keep your hands on your knees, and inhale and exhale slowly.
You have to keep your back straight while practising the pose. Hence, it also helps lengthening the spine and stretching of the hips. It will also help you improve your concentration.

6. Garudasana Improves Balance
If you are stressed about Karwa Chauth fast, why not shift your focus to something else? Garudasana is a balancing pose that will help you divert your mind. 7. Savasana (Corpse Pose) Relaxes Body
Savasana (corpse pose) is performed at the end of any yoga session. It helps you align your mind and body and concentrate on every part of your being. It helps to connect with yourself and relaxes your mind.
