The respiratory trainer, which has been in vogue in recent years among elite athletes, allows you to improve lung capacity in just one month.
Any physical development will answer the same thing. Running, swimming, cycling, lifting weights… There are many theories, they are all part of an evolution that requires many years of study, but the path repeats itself: each time more , every time better. With respiratory training, lung training, that maxim can be applied.
In recent times, many athletes and many medical studies, such as the one published by the University of Colorado, have popularized a device: the Powerbreathe. Until the end of the 90s, to improve breathing, intense physical exercise was required, training that inevitably also taxed the heart, legs or arms. It is impossible to separate the preparation of the lungs from the rest of the body. Not for decades. The invention of Powerbreathe in 1996 opened up the possibility of increasing breathing capacity and reducing blood pressure with some simple exercises that take about 10 minutes a day, but its use has not spread until now.
Now it is widespread. With only 60 inhalations a day – divided into two sessions – within four weeks the improvement is visible. The Powerbreathe program requires some study, but its mechanics are simple: the device offers a resistance from 0 to 10 and each time you need to increase the resistance. The first few days it seems impossible to do so many inhalations at the maximum without choking, but gradually it will be achieved. This development benefits sports performance – breathing can be improved by 13%, according to the University of Colorado – but it also helps patients with respiratory problems.
Powerbreathe, with medical distributors throughout Spain, has several series of its devices, some designed for healthcare providers. In the K series, for example, PowerBreathe automatically calculates the ideal training load to achieve better results based on the person’s condition.
