Ellie McGrath (left) and Jenna Kaine will host free yoga classes next week, in celebration of International Yoga Day on Tuesday.
Ever wondered if yoga was for you, but also been reluctant to make a commitment?
The team at Evolve Fitness + Wellbeing are giving you the opportunity to give it a go ... for free.
Free yoga classes will be available at Evolve next week, in celebration of International Yoga Day on Tuesday.
Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing.
The main components of yoga are postures and breathing.
The practice originated in India about 5000 years ago, and has been adapted in other countries in a variety of ways.
Evolve owner and yoga teacher Jenna Kaine, who has the support of fellow yoga teacher Ellie McGrath, said there are six main benefits of yoga:
- Improve your sleep;
- Reduce stress and focus the mind;
- Decrease joint pain and muscle tension;
- Helps with anxiety and self esteem;
- Increase your strength and endurance; and
- Increase your flexibility.
The free sessions will be held upstairs in the Evolve 'Wellness Studio', with Yoga Flow on Monday at 5pm and Friday at 9.30am, and Gentle Yoga on Wednesday 6pm.
Yoga Flow is a 60 minute class that connects mind and body by combining flowing movements, breathing techniques and a calming relaxation finisher.
Gentle Yoga is a 60 minute class of gentle poses with long holds to help release and open the deeper tissues.
Using bolsters and props for support, this class is accessible to most, but you must be comfortable in different positions on the floor.
This class includes a 20 minute relaxation finisher, with Ellie playing her yoga singing bowls to help relax you.
