Advice to follow covid rules
The letter said that while the number of Covid-19 cases has come down sharply in the past few months, the increase in positive rates during Covid-19 tests in some states is a matter of concern, which needs immediate attention.
The Health Secretary said that despite the low number of new cases, reduction in hospitalizations and significant progress in terms of Covid-19 vaccination coverage, there is a need to remain vigilant, vaccinate and follow the Covid rules.
‘Senior citizens, pregnant women more at risk’
The letter said that there has been an increase in cases of influenza along with Covid. A major concern is the detection of influenza A (H3N2) during testing of samples in various laboratories. It should also be kept in mind that young children, elderly people and people with co-morbidities are especially at serious risk of H1N1, H3N2.
Most of these types usually cause a mild illness with fever and cough that progresses to breathing problems. On the other hand, in some cases, especially the elderly, obese and suffering from other diseases and pregnant women, they may suffer more severely.
