After working in the health and wellness space for nearly two decades, Stephen Price, founder of Movementum, realized that there was more to a visit to the gym and spa than weightlessness and numbers on a scale. Customers want more time, more energy. They want to look better, but also feel better. “Once you get the hang of it, it’s really all about the quality of life,” Price has explained time and time again. And it is with this in mind that led Price to create Movementum at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel London. More recently, the team behind Movementum launched a range of professional spa products. Already in use in professional studios, gyms, spas and physical therapy settings, Movementum’s products are now available to purchase and use at home. Key ingredients in the range include frankincense, arnica, jojoba oil, mediterranean cypress and lemongrass oil, all of which have been carefully blended to create products that promote movement, muscle well-being, performance, recovery, regeneration and intensive hydration of the skin will improve. .

You described the program as “a new category of wellness.” What does this mean? Movementum combines traditional and non-traditional methods to improve mental and physical health by promoting exercise health. We already know the great benefits of moving freely and often, but we don’t often think about the elements of human behavior, confidence and motivation, all of which play a vital role.

Breath correction and breath work are a big part of the Movementum series – why do you think so many people overlook the importance of breathing? And what’s one thing you want people to understand about breathing and fitness? I often feel that people associate breathwork with “down-regulation,” whether it’s relaxing, creating stillness, and coping. Similarly, breath is an important element in uplifting, motivating, focusing, and postural awareness leading to improvements in function mobility, strength, and power.

How has your background in rehabilitation and clinical care guided this program? I’ve worked in supportive care for 20 years, helping patients with serious illness (mental and physical) through to professional athletes – and everyone in between. I curate programs that span all areas of wellness including nutrition, mental wellbeing, physical prehabilitation and rehabilitation. We use the latest health technology and diagnostics to support our programs. And in all these programs there is one common element and that is movement.

“It’s designed for absolutely anyone from 18-80 years old and can be used for many different purposes, whether it’s rehab or just finding the confidence to get started, right through to preparing for higher athletic performance.” order – to design something that is effective but also so broad – how did you manage to do that? It is extremely important that it is designed for everyone. Movement and physical activity should be promoted and more inclusive across generations. We need to find ways to do this, support it and promote how effective and important exercise is for our health and longevity. As a community, we need to remove barriers to participation in sport, exercise and exercise and make it available to everyone.
