Art therapy is becoming a common alternative to traditional talk therapy. In this mode of therapy, art becomes a medium to help people process their emotions, reflect on, and share their thoughts and feelings. Art therapists often combine art therapy with traditional psychotherapy methods.
As one of the leading health and wellness centers in Kuala Lumpur, 360? Wellness Hub is happy to welcome its new team member. As an art therapist, Sofi Tan seeks to offer people serenity and facilitate the healing of mental and emotional problems by enriching their self-expression through the creation of art. She works in a wide array of settings, as well.
Tan acquired numerous qualifications, which include Certified Practitioner of Projective Drawing – Art in Assessment, Buteyko Method, Breath Workshop, Seven Point Mind Training Meditation, Certified Floral Art/Tutor, Diploma in Event Management, Foundation Course of Child Psychology, and Certified Practitioner of Art in Therapy.
She also offers therapeutic interventions using the visual arts, including sculpture, painting, drawing, sand, and play for mental health diagnosis, early intervention, developmental disorders, wellbeing, and more. As an art therapist, Tan strives to help people to resolve conflicts, build interpersonal skills, handle behaviour, minimise stress, boost self-esteem, and accomplish insight.
“Through making and creating art, healing can start. Art offers the channel to gain insight into our behaviour, to express our emotions, and process difficult problems,” said Tan.
Every art therapy session is tailored to the particular needs of the individual or group. Private sessions are performed on-site at 360 Wellness Hub, and programs are delivered in community settings. Individual consultation sessions range from sixty to ninety minutes in length, depending upon particular needs.
According to a spokesperson from 360 Wellness Hub, “We could not be more excited to have Sofi Tan join the 360 Wellness Hub. Through collaborative peer-learning groups, our team new learn strategies for taking their roles to the next level.”
360? Wellness Hub understands that art therapy is the therapeutic use of art with a professional art therapist. Art expressions often express and contain meaning and emotions than words alone. It can also be powerful in effecting change, supporting growth, and strengthening or restoring a sense of self, relationships, and personal wellbeing.
