I would like to ask prisoners at other prisons: how do prisoners who have breathing illnesses cope if they are forced to share a cell with a person who vapes?
I have COPD lung illness. It is medically proven that passive vape fumes can trigger COPD flare ups. I have complained several times and asked for a cell with a non-vaping person, but the prison seems to ignore my requests, and I’m forced to share with a vape smoker.
This has resulted in me calling out the emergency team to receive medical treatment for flare ups three times in two-and-a-half months. Also, the medical staff have refused to comply with a rescue pack practice, which is normally standard for COPD. The worry and stress that this issue is causing me makes me wonder, should I end it now rather than having to suffer a slow and painful death which this person has condemned me to?
