A 7-year-old Sterling Heights girl is doing well after a Good Samaritan and first responders saved her during an asthma attack Wednesday, they said.

The girl's mother told police the attack sent the girl into cardiac arrest, officials also said.

Sterling Heights police officers and firefighters were called at about 4 p.m. Wednesday to a home in the 5600 block of Amberwood Drive near Mound Road and Metropolitan Parkway for a report of a girl who wasn't breathing, according to authorities.

Officers arrived and found a female Good Samaritan performing CPR on the girl, they said.

Police took over for the woman. The girl was unresponsive and did not have a pulse, according to the officers.

Firefighters and medics arrived and they took over the rendering of aid before taking her to a hospital.

Police officials released an officer's body camera video of the incident.
