Minnesota and Wisconsin health officials reported 58 new cases of COVID-19 and one more death in the 10-county region of the Northland on Saturday.

The person who died was a resident of Lake County in their early 80s. Lake County has now lost 20 lives to COVID-19.

Another 657 people in Northeastern Minnesota have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, bringing the total to 164,162 people in the seven-county region.

Ashland, Bayfield and Douglas counties collectively logged another 178 first COVID-19 vaccinations on Saturday. More than 37,000 people in the three counties have at least one dose now.

Half of the Northland's total population has at least one dose now. That percentage includes children under age 12 who are not yet eligible for a vaccine.
