AROUND 1,500 taekwondo jins from over 50 teams nationwide will see action in the 2022 Smart/MVP Sports Foundation National Taekwondo Poomsae Championships on July 16 to 17 at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay.

The country's first face-to-face poomsae tournament in two years only allows full-vaccinated players to compete, according to Taekwondo Philippines.

Poomsae (form) are attack and defense techniques against imaginary opponents. It is a way of understanding and practicing every aspect of your martial art, basic technique, breathing control, balance, coordination and concentration. The mind and body can work together in striving for perfection of technique that can never be achieved.

Taekwondo is meaningless without poomsae.

Competition is open in four events: Individual, Pair, Team, and Free Style for colored and blackbelts.
