In what could be termed as a miracle, a dead man came back to life after the ambulance he was travelling in hit a pothole near Dhand village in Haryana's Kaithal, on Thursday. Declared dead by doctors, the body of Darshan Brar Singh was being taken to his home near Karnal from Patiala for the funeral when the miraculous incident unfolded.
According to Brar's family, his grandson, who was accompanying him in the ambulance, noticed a movement in his hand after the ambulance hit a pothole. On sensing a heartbeat, he asked the driver to rush to the nearest hospital. Subsequent medical examination confirmed that Brar was indeed alive. He is currently undergoing treatment at NP Rawal Hospital in Karnal, where he is said to be in critical condition.
"My brother in Patiala informed us around 9 am on Thursday about our grandfather's death, and he was getting him to Nising (roughly 100 km away) in an ambulance for his last rites. We had informed our relatives and other local residents who knew him and they had already gathered to mourn his passing. A tent had been set up and food had also been arranged for the mourners. We had also got wood for the cremation," NDTV quoted Brar's other grandson, Balwan Singh, as saying.
The family also said that Brar was on a ventilator in Patiala for four days but is now breathing on his own. According to Doctor Netrapal from Rawal Hospital, Brar was breathing on arrival and had a blood pressure and pulse. The doctors also suspected that he might have been declared dead based on some technical glitch.
“We cannot say that the patient had died. When he was brought to us, he was breathing and had blood pressure as well as a pulse. We don't know what happened at the other hospital, whether it was a technical error or something else," he said.
