Billions of people worldwide were inhaling polluted air, a World Health Organisation (WHO) air quality report revealed this month.
The report, which covers more than 6 000 cities and 117 countries, including South Africa, indicates where air pollution levels – and the related health risks – are highest.
"Almost the entire global population (99%) breathes air that exceeds WHO air quality limits and threatens their health," a news release stated.
