Serenity Salt Spa, located at 107 Old River Road, Ste. K, Montgomery, will open the third week in March.

Owner Tina Kilburn said dry salt therapy helps reduce inflammation and lessen mucus production to ease breathing for those suffering from asthma, allergies and chronic sinus congestion. The large salt cave will include six zero-gravity chairs where guests will sit while a generator pumps in pure, pharmaceutical grade salt for a 45-minute breathe and relaxation session.

“My daughter lives in Michigan and all my Facebook friends were talking about this salt cave up there,” she said in a phone interview. “They loved it and said they noticed a difference right away. I didn’t see anything like that within 30 minutes of us so we decided, ‘Let’s just do it.'”

Kilburn said she wants to use salt therapy to help people feel better and look younger.

“The salt has 84 minerals that can be absorbed through the skin, so you’re actually nourishing your body as you relax and breathe deeply,” she said. “You can potentially help clear up issues like eczema and psoriasis as well.”

The spa includes the large salt cave, a private suite for two and two massage rooms.

“After a massage, you drink some fresh cucumber or lemon water, and then go sit in the salt room relax and just breath,” Kilburn said. “The experience is absolutely amazing.”
