WATERLOO REGION — Another person has died of COVID-19 in Waterloo Region.

The latest death of a man in his 20s, reported in the Wednesday update, put the total at 406.

Another 72 COVID-19 cases were added to the total count, which reached 44,305. The region’s dashboard does not capture all new cases because testing is limited in Ontario to those at highest risk.

The seven-day moving rate of new cases was 13.6 per 100,000.

Active cases went down by 72 to 1,019.

Hospitalizations went up by four to 58, including seven people in intensive care.

Outbreaks in high-risk settings went down by three to 20. Nine of the active outbreaks are in long-term care and retirement homes, eight are in other congregate settings and three in hospital.
