COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A Middle Tennessee medical center is limiting visitation as flu and COVID cases are on the rise.
Cookeville Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is implementing visitation restrictions.

Effective as of Thursday, Jan. 4, the medical center states visitors under the age of 16 and anyone exhibiting signs of illness will not be permitted to visit patients. Siblings of newborns in the Birthing Center and other special circumstances at the discretion of the unit director/charge nurse may visit if well.
The medical center says it wants to protect its patients and visitors by working to prevent the spread of flu and COVID.
“Cookeville Regional is enforcing these precautions in the best interest of patients and the community as a whole to help prevent the spread of influenza and COVID within our medical center,” said Stephanie Etter, Infection Prevention Manager at CRMC. “Remember, washing your hands, staying home when you are sick or showing signs of illness, avoiding touching your face, and cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces are all ways to help slow the spread of illness. If able, get a flu and COVID vaccine.”
The visitation restrictions will be in place until further notice.
