The Berks County Area Agency on Aging is offering older Berks County residents the opportunity to receive a free portable air conditioner, the agency announced Wednesday.
The Cooling Program is provided by the agency in partnership with Redner’s Markets, DoubleTree by Hilton and Circadia.
Program eligibility guidelines:• Must be age 60 or older.• Reside in Berks County.• Income not to exceed $2,000/month for individual or $4,000/month for married individuals.• Have heart-related or breathing related issues (i.e., COPD, Bronchitis, Emphysema)• Provide physician’s note reflecting the accepted related diagnosis/condition.• A complete application is available at our website at www.berksaging.org
Contact the Berks County Area Agency on Aging at 610-478-6500 for an application. The deadline to apply is June 17.
Upon approval, individuals will be contacted by the Area Agency on Aging to schedule an appointment to pick up the air conditioner.
