As part of the ongoing ‘Stress Awareness Week’, organised by The Carl Rogers Institute of Mental Health and School Counselling in collaboration with National Mental Health Program, department of Health & Family Welfare, a programme was organised at Northfield Higher Secondary School, Kohima.
Resource persons of the programme were Kezhazolie Mere and Anupam Kohli. Mere spoke to the students about who Carl Rogers was and how his therapy became widespread all over the world.
He pointed out the different types of stress which included acute stress, post traumatic-stress, psychosocial stress and so on.
On the other hand Anupam, spoke to the teachers about how stress affects us both physically and psychologically.
The first step to maintain our mental health includes identifying and becoming aware about the sources of stress, he said.
Both the resource persons mentioned that maintaining a healthy diet, journaling, physical exercise, breathing exercises, having mindful me-time are some activities that could help with controlling stress.
