OCEANSIDE, CA — On Thursday, August 11, 2022, 25-year-old Vincente Huerta of Oceanside was arrested in Mexico and Oceanside detectives brought him into custody to be booked for the murder of 22-year-old Oceanside resident Chelsea Pacheco.
On June 4, 2022, at 11:44 am, officers responded to a medical aid at Bush Street and Archer Street. The person said their friend was having a panic attack and was having difficulty breathing.
Upon arrival, the police officers located a 22-year-old female who was not breathing and the officers provided medical aid until medics arrived and transported the patient to Tri-City Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased.
While at the scene, officers noticed the victim had actually sustained a single gunshot wound to her upper body. Crimes of Violence detectives responded and soon learned that the victim and her male friends were driving in a vehicle and were involved in an argument with an unknown male pedestrian. As the vehicle drove off, the unknown male shot at the vehicle. One round penetrated the rear of the vehicle and struck the victim. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male adult, 20-30 years of age, bald, 5’10” – 6’0” tall with a stocky build.
Oceanside Police Department Crimes of Violence detectives identified the suspect in the shooting as 25-year-old Vincente Huerta of Oceanside and issued a warrant for his arrest. On Thursday, August 11, 2022, Huerta was arrested in Mexico and Oceanside detectives brought him into custody to be booked for the murder warrant.
