ROME — A host of activities and programs are planned next week at Jervis Public Library, 613 N. Washington St., including Camp Calm for Kids on Tuesday morning, according to library officials.
Camp Calm for Kids is an interactive program designed to help children discover their inner peace, officials stated. Over the course of four engaging sessions, children will learn various techniques to cultivate a sense of calm, including yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and breathing exercises.
The event will start at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 11. Registration is required. Call the library at 315-336-4570 to register.
The children will learn playful and gentle yoga poses, officials said, through which they will learn to move their bodies mindfully, improve flexibility and strength, and develop a greater sense of body awareness. The meditation session will involve guided visualization and mindful breathing to enhance focus, reduce stress, and cultivate a sense of calmness.
During a creative expression session, the children will engage in artistic activities like beading, bubble making, and more, which will encourage them to express their emotions, thoughts, and experiences in a non-judgmental and creative way. There will also be a session on breathing exercises to teach the children the power of conscious breathing to regulate their emotions, increase energy levels, and create a sense of inner balance.
Library officials said the Camp Calm for Kids program will give them tools to navigate challenges, manage stress, and enhance their overall sense of happiness and contentment.
This program is presented by Bianca Johnson and will take place outdoors on the library lawn. In the event of poor weather, the program will be moved indoors to the children's room.
