Navi Mumbai: With the detection of the new JN1 variant and rise of cases in some parts of the state, concerns have risen among citizens.
However, the commissioner of Panvel City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Ganesh Deshmukh has urged citizens to not panic and to stay vigilant in order to help avert the spread of the virus. According to the civic sources, if citizens experience symptoms similar to Covid, they are advised to self-isolate and not neglect it.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Anand Gavasavi has provided information on symptoms such as cough, fever, difficulty breathing and emphasized following the protocol of testing, surveillance and treatment for minimal impact of the virus.
In the face of the new Covid variant, it is crucial to maintain vigilance, said Dr Gosavi. Avoiding crowded places, use masks, frequent hand washing with soaps and practising safe distancing are essential measures to combat Covid.
Adhering to these guidelines can help prevent the spread of the virus, exhorted Deshmukh. The municipal corporation has swiftly arranged medical facilities for the new JN1 variant, including 244 non-oxygen beds, 789 oxygen beds, 258 ICU beds apart from 94 ventilators which have been distributed between dedicated Covid Care Hospital and Kharghar Hospitals. “During the pandemic our healthcare network was strengthened significantly and concerned officials have been instructed to reactivate the facilities,” said Deshmukh.
Citizens showing symptoms are encouraged to undergo free testing and treatment at the Municipal Primary Health Centers across the nodes as a faster precautionary measure. The Municipal Corporation has also emphasized the importance of adhering to preventive measures outlined in the restrictive guidelines to avoid the spread of the virus. “Meanwhile, our health department has done its homework and got the facilities ready to cater to the needs of imminent affected patients,” said Deshmukh.

10 new Covid cases today, no instances of JN.1 Variant detected: Delhi health minister
