Ranchi: In a significant development, private hospitals in Jharkhand will no longer have the authority to directly refer patients to government hospitals in case of serious conditions. A new set of criteria has been established to regulate the referral process, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of the patient’s condition and circumstances before any transfer.

According to the upcoming law, private hospitals must thoroughly assess the patient’s condition and circumstances before considering a referral to a government hospital. This includes a careful examination of various parameters, such as the functioning of the patient’s breathing tube, oxygen saturation levels, blood pressure, sugar levels, pulse rate, and heart rate. Only if these indicators meet the specified standards can the private hospital proceed with referring the patient to a government hospital.

The stringent criteria aim to enhance the quality and appropriateness of referrals, ensuring that patients are transferred only when necessary and under conditions conducive to their well-being. Additionally, the law will also be applicable to the transfer of patients between government hospitals, emphasizing a consistent and meticulous approach in the healthcare system.
