New Trademarks filed in Hong Kong
Apple filed for four new trademarks in Hong Kong this week. Two of them relate to Apple Vision Pro, one for the figurative "Apple M," as was filed in the U.S. and the figurative version for Apple TV to cover the following:
"Clothing; clothing jackets; sports jackets; fleece jackets; down jackets; wind resistant jackets; rain jackets; shirts; t-shirts; sports shirts; tank tops; athletic uniforms; sweatshirts; hooded sweatshirts; sweaters; scarves; jerseys being clothing; sports jerseys; shorts; pants; warm up suits; sweat suits; gloves; gloves for apparel; ties as clothing; neckties; soccer bibs; European football bibs; sleepwear; underwear; socks; wristbands as clothing; footwear; sneakers; headwear; caps being headwear; visors being headwear; sun visors being headwear; hats; headbands."
This specific application for the figurative version of the Apple TV+ logo for sporting apparel was covered in a U.S. filing that we covered in April 2023.
Apple's Apple Vision related trademarks were filed under International Classes 9, 38 and 42. Class 9 basically covers computers; class 38 basically covers telecommunication services; and 42 basically covers Science and Technology services, design and development of computer hardware, software and peripherals and more.
Apple TV was filed under 025 that basically covers selling, promoting all forms of clothes related to sports.
It should be noted that international trademark classes that Apple files their trademarks under are important as the trademark registration will only protect those classes that have been identified in their original application. In a legal battle, the classes filed for originally could make or break a legal case.
