PARKERSBURG– The American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED and Instructor Blended Learning Safety classes will be offered this month at the American Red Cross’ Parkersburg office.

Classes offer two-year certification to those who successfully complete the courses.

The basic course will prepare the participant to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants and meets OSHA/workplace requirements.

The blended learning course includes an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high-speed Internet connection.

The Instructors course will train candidates to teach basic-level American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED courses. Participants must possess a current basic-level American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED or higher level certification or equivalent and be at least 16 on the last day of the instructor course.

Upon successful completion of these courses, the participant will receive a digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.

Training classes are held at the American Red Cross, 220 Eighth St., Parkersburg. Classroom skill session date for the basic class is 9-11:15 a.m. Aug. 11.

The Instructors class will be 9-3:30 p.m. Aug. 12.
