When she was an investor on Dragons’ Den, Rachel Elnaugh scrutinised the pitches of would-be tycoons and funded businesses in fashion, jewellery and winter sports.

Nearly 20 years after the collapse of her own company and her departure from the show, she is trying to persuade investors to join her in a rather more esoteric business proposition: a sanctuary for antivaxers in the Peak District.

Having raised nearly £1 million, Elnaugh, 58, and a group called Phoenix Rose have bought a plot of ancient woodland in Cressbrook Dale and are seeking further investment to pay off the remainder of the cost.

Elnaugh, who appeared in the first two series of Dragons’ Den, sold her gift company Red Letter Days in 2005 to Theo Paphitis
