Minnesota Department of Health reported Thursday another 288 Northland teens got their first COVID-19 vaccine dose.
From April 21-27 statewide, 11,910 more 16- and 17-year-olds have been vaccinated, for a total of 38,909.
The number of first doses administered to 16- and 17-year-olds in Northland counties as of April 27 are:

St. Louis County teens continue to keep cases low in their age groups, while statewide, teens have the largest number of cases.
In St. Louis County in the past week, those age 4 and under had nine new cases; ages 5-9 had 16 new cases; 10-14 had 24 new cases; and ages 15-19 had 26 new cases. These cases only make up 2.89% of new cases in St. Louis County in the past week.
Statewide, cases counted over the past week in these age groups include; age 4 and under, 458; ages 5-9, 654; ages 10-14, 1,007; and ages 15-19, 1,263. These cases make up 29.38% of new cases statewide in the past week.

The 14-day case rates are used as guidance for school districts when choosing the right learning model for middle and high school students. Elementary students are allowed to return to in-person learning five days a week starting Jan. 18 regardless of these numbers.
