Minnesota and Wisconsin health officials reported Friday that another 111 people in the Northland have tested positive for COVID-19 and two more people have died.
A St. Louis County resident between ages 80 and 84, as well as a Koochiching County resident between ages 90 and 94, were among the 16 new deaths reported in Minnesota. Those counties have now lost 302 and 14 lives to COVID-19, respectively.
New cases and seven-day averages in Northland counties:

- Koochiching — 3; 2.
- Lake — 2; 1.1.
- St. Louis — 55; 40.4.

- Douglas — 8; 5.
Thirty-eight people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Northeastern Minnesota on Thursday, according to the state's most recent data. Twelve of those people were in an intensive care unit.
Another 900 people in the seven counties of Northeastern Minnesota have had their first COVID-19 vaccine injections, bringing the region's total to nearly 159,000 first vaccinations. That's 59% of people age 16 and older in the seven counties.
Almost half of the region's eligible population has completed their vaccine series.
Ashland, Bayfield and Douglas counties logged another 166 first vaccine doses, bringing its total to nearly 35,500. About 28,000 people in those counties have completed their vaccine series.
