The 2021 Ceremony is Free to Watch Via YouTube
DULUTH, Minn. – For the second year in a row, the Gary New Duluth Memorial Day Ceremony took place virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nearly a dozen guest speakers came together to prerecord the annual ceremony which was published for the community to view on YouTube.
Their message was simple, yet heartfelt — thanking the men and women in the community who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defending our nation and our way of life.
A flag-raising ceremony took place, along with the traditional playing of taps, and a moment to thank those who have lost their lives while protecting our country, especially those who have served and are currently serving with the 148th Fighter Wing.
“To all our northern Minnesota service members, our veterans, and military families joining today, thank you. You are all part of a proud tradition of men and women in our state who have served with honor, bravery, dignity, and humility,” said Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar.
Organizers say they look forward to 2022 when the ceremony can hopefully take place in person once again.
