Masks will be required in all clinical and patient-facing areas at the three hospitals
WELLINGTON COUNTY – Masks will once again be required in some areas at Wellington County hospitals.
A press release from the Wellington Health Care Alliance Friday said masks will be required in all clinical and patient-facing areas at Groves Memorial Community Hospital, Palmerston and District Hospital and Louise Marshall Hospital.
These areas include the emergency departments, inpatient units, ambulatory care areas (diabetes education, respiratory, physiotherapy) and diagnostic imaging (x-ray, ultrasound, mammography, CT, bone mineral density) will require patients, visitors and staff to mask up.
“The decision to reintroduce masks is due to increased community COVID transmission rates and recent regional hospital outbreaks,” stated Kate Kobbes, VP of patient services and chief nursing executive, in the release.
Earlier in September, Palmerston and District Hospital had a COVID outbreak with two inpatients and five staff testing positive.
