After more than 100,000 lightning strikes hit Victoria in 24 hours, Melburnians were set for a reprieve late Wednesday.
A cool change was predicted to sweep through the city after days of hot and muggy conditions, “flushing out the moisture” causing the storms.
Meteorologist Lincoln Trainor said storms were set to ease Thursday afternoon as a cooler south-westerly airflow continued its way across Melbourne.
“In the last few days we have had a lot of moisture as the north-easterly is drawing in a lot of tropical moisture over the state which has helped drive these thunderstorms,” he said.
