Pittsburgh Steelers veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will miss Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions after being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced Saturday. Backup Mason Rudolph is slated to start in his place.
In eight games this season (all starts), Roethlisberger has thrown for 1,986 yards, 10 touchdowns and four interceptions. The six-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl champion is in his 18th NFL season, all with the Steelers.
On the Dan Patrick Show on Nov. 5, Roethlisberger said he was vaccinated. Vaccinated individuals who are asymptomatic may return to team facilities once they return consecutive negative laboratory PCR tests taken at least 24 hours apart. Vaccinated and symptomatic individuals must return two negative tests 24 hours apart and must be asymptomatic for 24 hours. If vaccinated individuals don’t return two consecutive negative tests, they may return after 10 days.
Pittsburgh (5-3) has won four consecutive games after starting the season 1-3, while Detroit (0-8) is still winless in 2021.
