Another 138 people in the 10-county region of the Northland have tested positive for COVID-19.

More than half of those people live in St. Louis County — the region's largest county — which logged 78 new cases Saturday.

Another person from St. Louis County has died from COVID-19. The person was in their early 60s, according to the Minnesota Department of Health. The county has lost 295 people to COVID-19.

Minnesota health officials reported a total of 12 new deaths while Wisconsin reported four new deaths from COVID-19 on Saturday.

New cases and seven-day averages in Northland counties:

  • Itasca — 8; 12.4.
  • Koochiching — 7; 6.
  • Lake — 2; 0.9.
  • St. Louis — 78; 57.6.

  • Bayfield — 1; 4.
  • Douglas — 23; 10.6.

Nearly 3,000 more people in Northeastern Minnesota have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, bringing the total number of people with at least one dose in the seven counties to 141,112. That's 52% of the population age 16 and older.
