Clatsop County will move to the “Moderate Risk” category of state-mandated COVID-19 business and social guidelines beginning Thursday, May 27, based on the local rate of new infections.
The Oregon Health Authority recorded 31 new COVID-19 cases in the two-week reporting period from May 9 through May 22.
Under the Moderate Risk designation, restaurants, gyms, faith institutions and indoor entertainment establishments may operate at 50-percent capacity. For a complete list of all risk level guidance and restrictions, go here coronavirus.oregon.gov/Pages/guidance.aspx
Gov. Kate Brown recently announced a new risk-level metric based on vaccination rates in each county. Beginning May 21, counties that have achieved a rate of 65 percent of individuals 16 and over with at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose will be allowed to enter the Lower Risk category, which carries the fewest business and social restrictions. Counties that have not reached the 65-percent target will continue to have their Risk Levels set based on their local COVID case numbers.
According to the Oregon Health Authority, as of May 25 a total of 19,413 Clatsop County residents 16 and over – 59.2 percent – have received at least a first dose.
