CONROE, TX - The Twenty-third Annual Montgomery County Tree of Angels
Dedication is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 9th. The Tree
of Angels Dedication will be held at the Montgomery County Courthouse located
at 300 North Thompson Street in Conroe.
The Montgomery County event is sponsored by local crime
victim advocates. Crime victims, survivors of victims and the community
are invited to bring an angel ornament to place on this special tree in support
and remembrance of those whose lives have been impacted or taken by violent
crime.
The Tree of Angels began in Austin in December of 1991 by Verna Lee Carr, the
state advisor for the organization, People Against Violent Crime. Over
the years the Tree of Angels has grown to become a tradition in many
communities across Texas, other states, Australia and Japan.
“The Tree of Angels recognizes that the Christmas Season can be an especially
difficult time for people whose lives have been touched by violent crime”,
stated Janice Sager, Crime Victim Advocate.
“The program offers victims of crime, and family and friends of victims
an opportunity to extend support to each other. It provides a special
time to remember loved ones no longer with us.”
