A group of five motorcycle riders is headed to the Arctic Circle and back, all while raising awareness of suicide prevention among veterans.

“We’re going to ride the dumpster highway, which is the only road in North America that will take you to the Arctic Ocean,” said Jonathan Williams.

“Active-duty veteran suicide I think is something that’s important to every veteran. We’re losing somewhere around 8,000 veterans a year, that’s basically three 9/11 a year, every year,” said Brady Allen.

The riders left Astoria Friday on the 6,000-mile round-trip journey, expected to take three weeks.
