The Delamano Physiotherapy Center has just opened its doors in Tudela, under the direction of Vanesa Sayas and Cristina Gurria, with the aim of accompanying families through different moments and situations of life, as they explain. “We specialize in pelvic floor, pregnancy, postpartum, lactation, pediatrics, ergonomic wearing, respiratory physiotherapy, in addition to general/global therapies such as osteopathy, dry needles, diacutaneous fibrolysis, neurodynamics and diathermy,” they comment.
Vanesa, Christina, how many years of experience in each case and where did you work or continue to work?
Christina has worked as a physiotherapist for 14 years, most of the time in the public service, several years in the Navarra Multiple Sclerosis Association and in Upna as an assistant professor. Vanesa has been working as a physiotherapist for 8 years, most of the time in private clinics. Currently, they combine work in the clinic with work at the Reina Sofía Hospital.
What prompted you to open this center?
We have seen that some pathologies, such as incontinence, menstrual cramps or pain in sexual relations, continue to normalize. The same thing happens with babies: plagiocephaly is sometimes considered something purely aesthetic. In addition, we were both mothers, able to better understand families and help them from a common space.
What is the Center specializing in?
We specialize in pelvic floor and pediatrics, both in the prevention and treatment of already established pathologies. We work with women from pregnancy to prepare them for childbirth and the postpartum period, problems of incontinence, diastasis of the abdomen, prolapse, menopause, etc. Not to mention men who also suffer from urinary problems, pelvic pain, fecal retention disorders and more. Also in children with torticollis, plagiocephaly, breastfeeding difficulties, motor development, colic, bronchiolitis. In addition to the treatment of traumatological and rheumatological pathologies individually and in our physiotherapy groups.
What is the protocol for recovering patients from the moment they arrive at your center?
The first is to get to know the patient, to understand what is bothering him and how we can help him. To do this, we evaluate your situation using research physiotherapy methods in order to determine the treatment goals together with the patient. Once the goals are set, we decide, with the patient’s approval, which methods are best to solve the problem and prepare a treatment plan that also includes exercises and recommendations to do at home.
Why has physiotherapy become so widespread in recent years?
More information is emerging about prevention and health care, and gradually people are discovering other areas in which physical therapy can help you, beyond the most well-known treatments for muscle pain.
