Mum-to-be Lauren Goodger has revealed the extent of her pregnancy-related anxiety in a candid video shown on Steph’s Packed Lunch.

In the film, Lauren talks to former Gladiator Diane Youdale, who is now a psychotherapist, about the crippling effects of the condition.

The Essex businesswoman, 34, who is having a baby with Charles Drury said: “I’m 36 weeks pregnant. I’m so excited to be a mum, this is my first baby.

"Anxiety makes me feel like something really bad is going to happen to you, like you’re going to die. Whatever you do you can’t get away from it, I’ve tried everything.”

Lauren continues: “It’s a lot harder when you’re pregnant, you don’t have the energy or the strength, you just want to relax and sleep and anxiety doesn’t let you sleep.”

In a heartfelt admission she tells Diane about a terrifying experience she had recently, revealing: “I remember being at home one day, absolutely fine and all of a sudden my heart was racing and I was acting really strange, I kept dropping things.

"I sat there and I thought I’ve not felt the baby move today. When I got into the hospital they put the heart monitor on me and it was high.

"That is my anxiety, my heart racing, I always think I’m going to have a heart attack.”

Lauren believes the condition started when she was filming the hit reality TV show The Only Way Is Essex.

Confiding in Diane she says: “I think I first got anxiety when I was filming The Only Way Is Essex. I don’t regret it at all.

"There’s a lot that comes with it, mentally. It’s not anyone’s fault, it was a new show. You probably didn’t really get the help back then that you would get now.”

In a bid to help, Diane teaches Lauren breathing techniques to try to focus her mind if she starts to experience anxiety at any time.

In April, Lauren was understandably stressed when she couldn't feel her baby moving and went straight to hospital for tests.

She told the Sun: "I didn't feel the baby move and I didn't feel myself, so I was advised to go and have a check-up. As a new mum you worry, but the baby is all fine and perfect.

"As you know I've always been honest about how I'm feeling."

The reality TV star, who revealed she suffered a miscarriage in 2013, continued: "My anxiety is my heart so that was a trigger for me.

“Doctors and my close friends who suffer severe panic disorder are always the first to tell you panic attacks make your body feel like its having a heart attack due to the massive rush of adrenaline trying to escape your body any way it can. You get chest pains, palpitations and even shooting pains in your arm.

"It’s scary because you don’t understand what’s going on and that’s why you think you’re dying."

While she admits that she doesn't think she'll ever totally be fear-free, Lauren has taken steps to ensure that she can managed her emotions through the support of her partner, Charles, and by getting help from a medical professional.
