Michigan Police Officer Helps Save 2-Year-Old Found 'Lifeless' at Bottom of Pool

Police in Sterling Heights, Michigan, have reminded residents of the importance of learning water safety and CPR after an officer helped save a two-year-old child who fell into a pool on July 9.Bodycam footage released by Sterling Heights Police Department shows Officer Nathan Sears attending a callout on July 9.“It was a fun pool party where everyone was enjoying the nice weather and having a good time,” the Sterling Heights Police Department wrote on Facebook.“There were adults and children in the pool when the father of the child walked to the poolside and saw his 2-year-old son lifeless at the bottom. The father was just talking with his son minutes prior to this,” the department wrote.Footage shows Sears running into a backyard to help the child, whose parents had already started CPR.“Officer Sears picked the young boy up, flipping him over to give back blows to help clear his airway. Officer Sears then gave the boy back to the father who met the Sterling Heights Fire Department out front,” the police department said.The boy was taken to hospital and has since been released, according to police.“Please use this as a reminder of water safety and to learn C.P.R.! This accident occurred and went unnoticed by people within the pool, mere feet away from the child. Stay vigilant and enroll in a C.P.R. class to help save a life,” police said.
