Dare County reports a dozen new COVID cases

The Dare County Department of Health and Human Services reported 12 cases of COVID-19 on March 13, marking the second day in a row that the county has reported daily cases in the double digits. (There were 10 cases reported on March 12).
A two-day span is far too short a time period to even discuss a trend or pattern, but the 22 cases in the past two days come after almost three weeks of single-digit cases and after a period of significant decrease in the number of infections reported.
Today’s 12 cases are pretty evenly divided between Dare County residents (7) and non-residents (5). A majority of the new cases involve those between the ages of 25-49.
North Carolina
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Department reported 892 cases of COVID-19 on March 13, the second time in a week that daily cases have dipped below the 1,000 mark.
Today’s statewide NC coronavirus numbers
- Total reported NC cases – 882,715
- New cases reported today – 892
- Reported deaths – 11,691 (28 more than yesterday)
- Currently hospitalized 1,028 (9 fewer than yesterday)
- Suspected COVID-19 cases hospitalized in past 24 hours – 162 (16 more than yesterday)
- Confirmed COVID-19 case hospitalized in past 24 hours – 141 (5 more than yesterday)
- Adults in ICU with COVID-19 – 271 (2 fewer than yesterday)
- Patients presumed to be recovered – 837,824
- Reported cases in Dare, Currituck and Hyde Counties – 4,889 (Dare 2,835, Currituck 1,413, Hyde 641)
- Completed tests – 10,723,058
- Daily percent positive tests – 5.4%
- Vaccine doses administered – 3,162,635
Note: Every morning, the NC Department of Health and Human Services posts updates the number of reported cases of coronavirus. That number reflects positive results from all tests, including the NC State Laboratory of Public Health and all hospital and commercial labs. There may be other reports, from the media and elsewhere, that will include different numbers during a given day, but this is an effective way of tracking numbers from the same source on a day-to-day basis.
