The Denver Broncos will be without backup quarterback Drew Lock as they take on the Dallas Cowboys due to COVID-19 protocols. He was a last minute addition to the injury report and downgraded to out.

The situation with Lock involved a close contact outside the team. He will not be available as the league conducts contract tracing.

Brett Rypien will be the team’s backup quarterback this week behind Teddy Bridgewater. So far, Bridgewater has remaining pretty healthy behind one of the league’s worst pass protection units. He was knocked out for a half with a concussion earlier this year.

As a single game starter last year for an injured Lock. Rypien completed 61% of his passes to lead the Broncos to a 37-28 victory over the New York Jets. While he did throw three interceptions, he let the team to multiple scoring drives to notch the first win of the year for the Broncos in that Week 4 contest.
