Dallas County reported 13 more COVID-19 deaths and 502 new coronavirus cases Monday.
The latest victims were mostly in their 60s or older. Six were men and seven were women, and all 13 had underlying high-risk health conditions.
Ten were Dallas residents, two lived in Garland, and one was from Grand Prairie.
County Judge Clay Jenkins urged residents to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
“We are in a race against time and the virus to reach herd immunity,” Jenkins said in a written statement.
Of the new cases, 394 were confirmed and 108 were probable. The numbers bring the county’s overall case total to 296,045, including 255,407 confirmed and 40,638 probable. The death toll is 3,807.
Dallas County no longer reports new coronavirus data on Sundays and instead reports two-day totals on Mondays.
The average number of new daily cases in the county for the past two weeks is 263. For the previous 14-day period, the average was 262.
Health officials use hospitalizations, intensive care admissions and emergency room visits as key metrics to track the real-time impact of COVID-19 in the county. Because of a delay in weekend reporting, those numbers will next be available Tuesday.
According to the state, 934,728 people in Dallas County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 556,059 — 27.4% of the county’s population 16 and older — are fully vaccinated.

Texas
Across the state, 1,199 more cases were reported Monday, including 1,178 new cases and 21 older ones recently reported by labs.
The state also reported nine COVID-19 deaths, raising its toll to 48,620. The state’s reporting of deaths lags behind that of some individual counties.
Of the new cases, 1,073 were confirmed and 105 were probable. All 21 of the older cases were confirmed.
The state’s case total is now 2,842,763, including 2,440,986 confirmed and 401,777 probable.
There are 2,864 COVID-19 patients in Texas hospitals, including 540 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. On Sunday, 3.5% of patients in the hospital region covering the Dallas-Fort Worth area were COVID-19 patients — below the 15% threshold the state has used to define high hospitalizations.
The seven-day average positivity rate statewide for molecular tests, based on the date of specimen collection, was 4.7% as of Sunday. For antigen tests, the positivity rate for the same period was 2.1%. A molecular test is considered more accurate and is sometimes also called a PCR test; an antigen test is also called a rapid test. Gov. Greg Abbott has said a positivity rate above 10% is cause for concern.
According to the state, 10,140,180 people in Texas have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 6,524,433 — 29.1% of the state’s population 16 and older — are fully vaccinated.
Tarrant County
Tarrant County reported one death and 133 cases Monday.
The latest victim was a Fort Worth woman in her 80s who had underlying high-risk health conditions.
Of the new cases, 120 were confirmed and 13 were probable. The numbers bring the county’s case total to 254,723, including 214,449 confirmed and 40,274 probable. The death toll is 3,375.
According to the county, 152 people are hospitalized with the virus.
According to the state, 682,012 people in Tarrant County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 442,007 — 27.3% of the county’s population 16 and older — are fully vaccinated.
Collin County
The state added 85 cases to Collin County’s totals Monday. No additional deaths were reported.
Of the new cases, 80 were confirmed and five were probable. The numbers bring the county’s case total to 88,563, including 73,211 confirmed and 15,352 probable. The death toll is 811.
According to the county, 83 people are hospitalized with the virus.
According to the state, 440,195 people in Collin County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 271,487 — 33.9% of the county’s population 16 and older — are fully vaccinated.
Denton County
Denton County reported 219 cases Monday. No additional deaths were reported.
The newly reported cases bring the county’s total to 73,424, including 54,219 confirmed and 19,205 probable. The death toll is 479.
According to the county, 14 people are hospitalized with the virus.
According to the state, 339,873 people in Denton County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 220,505 — 31.6% of the county’s population 16 and older — are fully vaccinated.

The Texas Department of State Health Services has taken over reporting for these other North Texas counties. In some counties, new data may not be reported every day.
The latest numbers are:
- Rockwall County: 11,275 cases (9,166 confirmed and 2,109 probable), 152 deaths.
- Kaufman County: 15,680 cases (13,172 confirmed and 2,508 probable), 252 deaths.
- Ellis County: 22,368 cases (18,713 confirmed and 3,655 probable), 309 deaths.
- Johnson County: 19,503 cases (16,639 confirmed and 2,864 probable), 364 deaths.
