On Track to Phase 5

The State is still on target to move to Phase 5 of Illinois’ Reopening Plan on June 11. When the State moves to Phase 5, normal business operations may resume, free of pandemic related mitigations.

The criteria to move to Phase 5 of the Reopening Plan and the status of meeting the criteria are as follows:

  • 70% of the population 65 and older must have received at least one dose of a vaccine. This has been met. More than 82% of this age group has had at least one dose of a vaccine.
  • 50% of the population 16 and older has received at least one dose of a vaccine. This has been met. More than 60% of this age group has had at least one dose.
  • The trend of hospital admissions for a COVID-19 like illness must not be increasing in the last 28 days. As of today, the trend is “decreasing.”
  • The trend in the number of COVID-19 patients in the hospital must not be increasing. As of today, the trend is “decreasing.”
  •  ICU bed availability must remain greater than or equal to 20% over the most recent 28 days. As of today, there is 23% availability.

IDPH also said today the trend of new COVID-19 cases is “decreasing,” and that there is not a “significant” change in the number of deaths due to COVID-19 in the last 28 days.

If the trends hold, businesses in Illinois may return to the new normal on June 11.
