The Oregon Health Authority on Sunday reported 404 new confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases, and one new death, raising the state’s coronavirus death toll to 2,392.
The announcement comes as cases have been rising, and as state officials are making vaccines available to a larger group of Oregonians. As of Monday, people working frontline jobs, anyone aged 16 to 44 who has an underlying condition, and others, will be eligible for vaccines.
Vaccines: The Oregon Health Authority reported reported 32,692 newly administered doses. Of this total, 22,084 doses were administered on April 3, and 10,608 were administered on previous days but were entered into the vaccine registry on April 3.
Where the new cases are by county: Baker (1), Benton (5), Clackamas (59), Clatsop (1), Columbia (7), Coos (3), Curry (2), Deschutes (31), Douglas (8), Grant (2), Jackson (24), Jefferson (3), Josephine (12), Klamath (13), Lane (30), Lincoln (4), Linn (12), Malheur (1), Marion (28), Morrow (1), Multnomah (84), Polk (13), Tillamook (3), Union (4), Wallowa (1), Wasco (1), Washington (45) and Yamhill (6).
Who died: Oregon’s 2,392nd death linked to COVID-19 death is a 58-year-old man in Lane County who tested positive on March 11 and died on April 3 at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center. He had underlying conditions.
The prevalence of infections: On Sunday, Saturday, the state reported 525 new positive tests out of 11,374 tests performed, equaling a 4.6% positivity rate.
Who’s in the hospital: The state reported 150 Oregonians with confirmed coronavirus infections were currently in the hospital on Sunday, which is three fewer than on Saturday. Of those, 43 coronavirus patients were in intensive care units, one fewer than Saturday.
Vaccines administered: Oregon has administered 1,000,991 first and second doses of Pfizer, 924,661 first and second doses of Moderna and 49,520 single doses of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines. As of the Sunday report, 1,225,575 doses of Pfizer, 1,102,200 doses of Moderna and 105,800 doses of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines have been delivered to locations in Oregon.
Since it began: Oregon has reported 166,882 confirmed or presumed infections and 2,392 deaths, among the lowest per capita numbers in the nation. To date, the state has reported 4,251,501 lab reports from tests.
