PARIS - If Springbok hooker Bongi Mbonambi was carrying the weight of a looming showdown with World Rugby, his cheerful demeanour at Monday's training session in preparation for Saturday’s Rugby World Cup final against New Zealand certainly didn't show it.
Mbonambi, who is facing a formal review from World Rugby for an alleged racial slur directed at England flank Tom Curry at last Saturday's semi-final at Stade de France, was one of the last players to emerge from the northern changing room at Stade des Fauvettes, from where he happily played around with fellow front rower Vincent Koch as the rain teemed down on a damp and cold Monday afternoon.
From there, he joined fellow hooker Marco van Staden in lineout throwing practice, from where Deon Fourie also joined in.
