This is my first time using PICRUSt, and I have a few ideas I’d like to try, but I am not sure they are appropriate to perform.
Is it acceptable to use these results to assess if an ASV/OTU has multiple ECs? For instance, ASV1/OTU1 has both EC.126.96.36.199 and EC 188.8.131.52. Could I then take that further and say X% of my community has both EC.184.108.40.206 and EC 220.127.116.11? It seems this might be a bit misleading, due to the inferences this pathway makes, but I am not sure!
Would it be appropriate to calculate diversity indices on this output? For example, I have output data that shows me all of the OTUs that have EC.18.104.22.168, would it be appropriate to calculate any sort of diversity index (Shannon, chao, etc.) on these data?
