New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday said it could prove to be a major disaster if children are vaccinated against corona without research. A bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh on Friday objected to a petition seeking research on corona vaccine for children in a time bound manner and said that if children are vaccinated without proper research, it could become a major problem.
Advocate Kailash Vasudev, appearing for the petitioner, argued that there would be a specific time frame for when the vaccine test for children would end. The Centre told the Delhi High Court in an affidavit on Friday that pharmaceutical chief Zydus Cadila's corona vaccine may be available soon for children between the age of 12 and 18.
The Centre also said that Zayedus Cadila has completed its vaccine trial for children between the ages of 12 and 18 and the vaccine is subject to statutory approval. The Ahmedabad-based pharmaceutical firm had on July 1 sought permission for emergency use for ZyCoV-D (Zydus Cadila Corona Vaccine). Zydus cadila is a three dose and the world's first plasmid DNA corona vaccine. The Centre's affidavit stated that corona vaccination is the first priority of the Central Government and all efforts are being made to get 100% vaccination in at least time keeping in view the availability of vaccine doses.
